Ny og spanande sesong

Ein ny sesong står for tur, og Manger Musikklag har også i år mange store og spanande konsertar og konkurransar. Eit høgdepunkt  er sjølvsagd at MML skal representere Noreg i Europameisterskapen i Linz i april 2026. Det er eit særs kompetent team med dirigentar som står klare for å leie laget denne sesongen:

Kontinuitet og  musikalsk utvikling

Vår faste dirigent, Tormod Flaten, er med frå fyrste øving og skal mellom anna dirigere viktige konsertar som sesongopninga i Manger kyrkje, BrassWind og den tradisjonsrike julekonserten. I tillegg kjem Tormod til å spele ei sentral rolle i å førebu laget til EM på våren. Tormod er såleis ein nøkkelperson når det gjeld laget si totale musikalske utvikling. 

Siddis brass

Vidare har Manger Musikklag gleda av å kunngjere at Magnus Brandseth skal leie MML til Siddis brass 2025. Brandseth har vore tubaist i EBML i ei årrekkje, og har leia mange korps til sigrar i fleire ulike konkurransar både nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Magnus har vore innom musikklaget ved enkelte høve tidlegare, men skal no altså leie MML gjennom ein konkurranse for fyrste gong. Magnus vil, i tillegg til å dirigere, vere med på å utforme programmet som MML vil presentere i Fartein Valen i november 2025. Dette gler me oss til!

NM og EM 

Det er fleire endringar i dirigent-teamet til MML denne sesongen. Allan Withington avslutta som kjent som kunstnarleg leiar våren 2025. Denne sesongen er det difor ei stor glede og ære for MML å ynskje professor David King velkomen tilbake som dirigent for både NM og EM. David er som kjent ein av korpsørslas mest merriterte og suksessrike dirigentar gjennom tidene og MML er svært glade for å få samarbeide med han igjen.  MML og David King hadde stor suksess på 90-talet og David dirigerte også MML i NM 2023. I tillegg er me veldig glade for at Thor-Arne Pedersen inn for å førebu MML i NM-perioden fram til David kjem. Thor-Arne er tidlegare musikant i MML og har mange gode resultat som dirigent for både vaksenkorps og skulekorps. Han vil jobbe tett saman med David og har ansvaret for å førebu laget fram til NM i Grieghallen i februar. MML ser veldig fram til dette samarbeidet.

Festaftan 2026

Grunna EM vert Festaftan 2026 flytta litt lengre ut på våren, og alle som ynskjer å vere med på nok ein fest på Radøy må setje av 30. mai 2026. Me er også stolte over å annonsere at MML skal ha med seg sjølvaste Knut Marius Djupvik som artist denne kvelden og at me får med oss dirigent Reid Gilje på dette prosjektet. Dette vil verkeleg verte ein stor fest - og me håpar mange tek turen til Radøyhallen!

A New Season Awaits

A new season is just around the corner, and once again this year, Manger Musikklag has many major and exciting concerts and competitions lined up. One of the highlights is, of course, that MML will represent Norway at the European Championships in Linz in April 2026. A highly competent team of conductors is ready to lead the band this season:

Continuity and Musical Development

Our resident musical director, Tormod Flaten, will be involved from the very first rehearsal and will conduct several key concerts, including the season opener in Manger Church, BrassWind, and the traditional Christmas concert. In addition, Tormod will play a central role in preparing the band for the European Championships in the spring. He is therefore a key figure in the band's overall musical development.

Siddis Brass

Manger Musikklag is also pleased to announce that Magnus Brandseth will lead MML at Siddis Brass 2025. Brandseth has been a tubist in Eikanger-Bjørsvik Musikklag for many years and has led several bands to victories in various competitions, both nationally and internationally. Magnus has previously worked with MML on a few occasions, but this will be his first time leading the band through a competition. In addition to conducting, Magnus will also be involved in developing the program that MML will present in Fartein Valen in November 2025. We are really looking forward to this!

Norwegian and European Championships

There are several changes in the conducting team for MML this season. As is well known, Allan Withington stepped down as artistic director in the spring of 2025. This season, it is therefore a great pleasure and honor for MML to welcome Professor David King back as conductor for both the Norwegian and European Championships. David is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished and successful conductors in the history of the brass band movement, and MML is very happy to collaborate with him again. MML and David King enjoyed great success in the 1990s, and David also conducted MML at the Norwegian Championships in 2023. In addition, we are very pleased that Thor-Arne Pedersen will step in to prepare MML during the NM (Norwegian Championships) period leading up to David's arrival. Thor-Arne is a former musician in MML and has achieved many strong results as a conductor for both adult and school bands. He will work closely with David and is responsible for preparing the band in the lead-up to the NM at Grieghallen in February. MML is very much looking forward to this collaboration.

Festaftan 2026

Due to the European Championships, Festaftan 2026 will be held a bit later in the spring. Everyone who wants to be part of yet another celebration on Radøy should save the date—May 30, 2026. We are also proud to announce that none other than Knut Marius Djupvik will be the featured artist that evening, and that conductor Reid Gilje will be joining us for this project. It will truly be a grand celebration – and we hope many will make the trip to Radøyhallen!
