Manger Musikklag har dei siste månadene vore på leit etter ny fast dirigent etter at Martin Winter gav seg sumaren 2023. Mange gode kandidatar har søkt og me vil takke alle som har vist interesse for stillinga. Manger Musikklag er no glade og stolte over å kunne annonsere at Tormod Flaten har fått jobben som fast dirigent for laget.
Ein kjent figur i musikkrørsla
Tormod Flaten er ein kjent figur i musikkrørsla, både nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Han jobbar til dagleg som euphonist i Sjøforsvarets Musikkorps og er Besson-artist og internasjonal euphoniumsolist. Tormod er også ein erfaren instruktør og dirigent. Han har dirigert mange av dei beste korpsa i Noreg, både innan brassband og janitsjar, og kan mellom anna vise til siger i NM for janitsjar med Sandvikens Ungdomskorps. Tormod Flaten har rykte på seg for å jobbe grundig og målretta. Manger Musikklag har allereie fått oppleve dette då Tormod leia laget fram mot sesongopninga 23/24. I august opplevde MML at det var god kontakt mellom dirigenten og musikantane og me er imponerte over jobben han gjorde med å skape ein god sesongstart for laget.
Topp motivert for å utvikle laget
Om tilsetjinga som fast dirigent for Manger Musikklag, seier Tormod «Jeg gleder meg virkelig til å ta fatt på jobben som fast dirigent i Manger Musikklag. MML er et av de store ikonene i norsk brassbandbevegelse med en stolt historie og solid merittliste. Jeg er topp motivert for å utvikle ensemblet videre i samspilll med kunstnerisk leder, Allan Withington».

Rett person til å drive laget til nye høgder Styreleiar i Manger Musikklag, Marianne Bratshaug Gjertsen, uttalar: «Me har hatt ein grundig prosess med å leite etter ny fast dirigent for laget. Med Tormod er me sikre på å få ein dirigent med store ambisjonar for laget. Han jobbar grundig og er ein fagperson som kan hjelpe MML til å nå nye høgder. I tillegg veit me at han vil ha eit godt samarbeid med Allan Withington i åra som kjem. Me ønskjer Tormod hjarteleg velkommen til Manger Musikklag og må igjen understreke at me gler oss allereie til neste haust!» Tormod startar i jobben frå hausten 2024. Manger Musikklag gratulerer Tormod med jobben og ser fram til at me skal jobbe saman om nye musikalske høgdepunkt!

Anouncement of new resident musical director for Manger Musikklag Manger Musikklag have in recent times been on the lookout for a new resident musical director after Martin Winter’s time with the band drew to a conclusion in the summer of 2023. There was interest from many good potential candidates, and we’d like to take the opportunity to thank everyone that has shown an interest. Manger Musikklag are now delighted to announce that Tormod Flaten will join the band as resident musical director.

A well-known personality in the music scene
Tormod Flaten is a well-known personality in the music scene, both nationally and internationally. He is the euphonium player with the Norwegian Navy Band based in Bergen, and is a Besson artist and international euphonium soloist. Tormod is also a respected teacher and conductor. He has conducted many of the best bands in Norway, both brassband and windband, and amongst other achievements led Sandvikens Ungdomkorps to a first place in the national champions for windbands. Tormod Flaten has a reputation for his thorough and purposeful work, and Manger Musikklag have already been able to experience this as Tormod led the band for our opening concert of the season 2023/24. In August MML experienced a good chemistry between conductor and musicians, and we were impressed by his work that shaped a good start to the season for the band.
Highly motivated to improve the band Speaking about the appointment as resident musical director for Manger Musikklag, Tormod said "I am really looking forward to get to work with Manger Musikklag. MML are one of the big icons of the Norwegian brass band movement with a proud history and a substantial track record. I’m highly motivated to improve and develop the band further together with their artistic leader, Allan Withington".
The right person to push the band to new heights The chairperson of Manger Musikklag, Marianne Bratshaug Gjertsen, said "We have had a very thorough process of looking for a new resident musical director for the band. With Tormod, we are sure that we have a conductor with big ambitions for the band. He works very thoroughly and is a consumate professional who can push the band to new heights. In addition, we know that he will have a good working relationship with Allan Withington for the years to come. We would like to offer a warm welcome to Tormod from all at Manger Musikklag and reiterate that we are already looking forward to next autumn!"
Tormod joins MML from autumn 2024. Manger Musikklag would like to congratulate Tormod with the new role and look forward to working together towards new musical highlights!
